सौराष्ट्र के पुरातात्विक प्रमाण : प्राचीन पुरातन सामग्री तथा ताम्र पत्र में भगवान कृष्ण की द्वारिका सौराष्ट्र की राजधानी थी. महाभारत युद्ध के पहले सौराष्ट्र सिंधु नदी के तट तक था. युद्ध के बाद पूरा सिंध प्रान्त जिसमें अफगानिस्तान के विस्तृत इलाके शामिल थे सौराष्ट्र के अंतर्गत आ गई . कच्छ की खाड़ी तथा इंद्रप्रस्थ बहुत दिनों तक शासन की केंद्र बिंदु थी. सौराष्ट्र के बहुत सारे अंचल और नगर का साम्राज्य युद्ध के बाद कच्छ की खाड़ी के चारों ओर बिखरे थे, जो मुख्यतः व्यापारिक सामान का निर्माण सौराष्ट्र के लिए करते थे. हड़प्पा तथा मोहनजोदड़ो शिक्षा के साथ साथ व्यापार के भी बहुत बड़े केंद्र थे. इस निर्यात व्यापार को सुदृढ़ करने के लिए ही प्राचीन द्वारिका में दस बड़े प्राचीन पोत मिले हैं , जिसमे आज आधुनिक व्यापारिक प्रतिष्ठानों का कब्जा है. आधुनिक इतिहासकारों ने विदेशी इतिहासकारों की नक़ल में इसे महाभारत के साथ जोड़कर नहीं देखा. महाभारत काल का सौराष्ट्र, आधुनिक दिशा भ्रमित, अल्पज्ञ, इतिहासकारों के लिए "सिंधु घाटी सभ्यता" है. . Sourashtra - The Archaeological Proof. . In the ancient archaeological and literary records Dwarika was the capital city of the Sourashtra. Before the MB war this was extended upto the Indus River. Beyond that it was within the command of Jayadrath. After the MB War, this came into the control of the Sourashtra, which was extended far beyond the area of the present Afghanistan.The Gulf of Kutch and the Indraprastha were the power centres of India. Around the Gulf of Kutch various sites were developed which were helping Dwarika to exploit the export market from India. To aid this Dwarika developed ten big international level ports, which are highly decorated. The Harappa and the Mohenjodaro were point of education as well as the trading centres. Modern historians and the archeologists, without applying mind called the Mahabharat famed Sourashtra as the Indus Valley Civilization ( IVC ).
